Scholarship and Bursary Funds

Winnipeg Ringette League - Scholarship Opportunities

Purpose: To provide a minimum of scholarships of $500.00 towards post-secondary education for qualified Winnipeg Ringette League players who have demonstrated an academic performance and a strong commitment to the sport of Ringette. The recipient should show an emphasis on community and or neighborhood involvement through a host of local organizations with a history of community service.

  • Must have been a registered player, or involved to some capacity within the Winnipeg Ringette League (past season – player, coach, or manager)
  • Must have been a registered player or involved to some capacity within the Winnipeg Ringette League for five out of the last six seasons (player, coach or manager)
  • Must be enrolling and accepted to a full time post-secondary education institution
  • Must have maintained a minimum 65% average in the prior school year

Selection Process:

  • Applications will be reviewed by the Winnipeg Ringette League Scholarship Committee, as appointed by the WRL President
  • Awards will be decided by the applicants who attained the highest number of points using the procedure outlined above
  • Ties will be determined by random chance as done by the WRL President
  • The Scholarship Committee will make recommendations to the WRL Council
  • Decision by the Council will be final and not subject to any appeal

Application Procedure:

Applications will be accepted from March 1 to May 15 of each year. Any applications sent or post-marked after this date will not be accepted.

Decisions and announcements to the successful candidates will be by June 1 of that same year.
